What Have I Told Everyone!?!?

Look at my past diaries. Look at all the latest polls. Obama is losing ground or has lost the lead. John Kerry was polling better electoraly and nationally four years ago this week. Now, Obama has been hit as a hollywood star, as an elitist, and a snob. He is labeled out of touch with the middle class.

We all know who can save him. He needs to do what he can to win the White House. A BORING WHITE GUY will not save him. Only THE WOMAN can save him now.

He needs to put aside his arrogance, his snob appeal, and this elitist attitude.

He would be fortunate enought if she said yes.

Before you lash out at me...check out all the available websites:

And yes, your beloved DailyKos...Obama is turning into the new Dukakis and I will not forgive him if he loses this winnable election. He has lost what lead he had!

Dude ..... (2.00 / 2)

Obama may be down in the polls, but this type of rant will get you nowhere.

He will not pick Clinton.  Sorry. And to me, as a Hillary supporter, that's a good thing.

His VP pick will not matter.  His campaign has to act quickly to counter the usual (and should have been expected by Democrats by now) labeling by the McCain campaign.  We have to define Obama and destroy McCain. Perhgaps all those Hillary haters will redirect their ire towards McCain instead of continuing to detest 'our gal'.

Hell's bells, even the GOP didn't have to crucify Eisenhower's record in order to make Reagan their 'saint'. We can have two great ones, you know?

Re: Dude ..... (none / 0)

I agree that McCain's attacks should have been expected.  But who says they weren't expected?  The question is still how do you respond?  What could Obama have done to counter this kind of attack?  The media darling and scary black guy narrative has always been his weak spot.  John McCain has hit him there about as hard as he can and we're looking at a dead-even race or even Obama by a nose.  Now it's Obama's move.  Let's see what he does.

I love the memo that he doesn't have a plan (none / 0)

mostly from the same people who 4 months ago called him the most diabolical political calculator in the world who gamed an entire primary to win...Now he's back to incompetent, um, wow

Re: I love the memo that he doesn't have a plan (2.00 / 1)

We're all still angry about 2000 and 2004 when these ridiculous attacks on Gore and Kerry worked.  I think we all wanted to see Obama tear McCain a new one.  But would that really be the best way to go?

I have no problem with negative ads, but they have to be done correctly.  The fact that McCain has started so early with the negative ads shows a bit of desperation and leaves him wide open to charges that he is with the same Bush/Rove crowd that he really is with.

There are downsides to political attack ads.  Those chickens have not come home to roost yet for McCain.  We'll see what happens.

In general, though, I wouldn't discount the planning and massively deep pockets of the Obama campaign.

Re: I love the memo that he doesn't have a plan (none / 0)

I must have missed the commentary calling Obama 'incompetent'. Where was that again?

There is a huge difference between working the system to defeat a member of your own party for the nomination and working the GE to defeat your opponent form a vastly different party.

The gist of all this is, don't underestimate what is happenning because you are all hyped up on 'change'.  Over confidence of the 'inevitable nominee' helped you guys defeat the evil Hillary, remember?

Polls show what polls show.  Ignore the ones not complimentary to your way of thinking at your own peril.  We can't afford the arrogance of 'we'll win no matter what' irrationality.

Re: I love the memo that he doesn't have a plan (none / 0)

Your comment makes no rational sense for many reasons, one of which is i've never called Hillary evil, secondly, I'm not underestimating anything, i'm just amused at the 30 diaries regarding silly polling data showing a close race as the end of the world, or evidence of Obama underperforming some mythical candidate. Thirdly, who said we'll win no matter what, I'm just not a sky is falling type of person this far out, and when looked at rationally, none of the current data shows anything different then what I have stated it would be, a close race. So get a clue, and stop assuming so much if you catch my drift.

Re: I love the memo that he doesn't have a plan (none / 0)

I guess if we put your 'incompetent' charge next to my 'evil' charge, we come up with a big pile of nothing.

Your dissection of my comment is sort of funny when juxtaposed against your comment to which I replied.

Cheers!

Re: What Have I Told Everyone!?!? (1.00 / 0)

Obama looks like he is sinking and I expect team Clinton to throw him an anvil at any moment.

That is how the game is played.  Politics is a contact sport.  Obama failed to put her away when he had the chance and that was his first mistake.  His second was caving and giving Team Clinton huge primetime gigs at the convention.

Check out what is going on in PA:

http://www.thetimes-tribune.com/articles /2008/08/20/news/sc_times_trib.20080820. a.pg1.tt20brazil_s1.1888751_top5.txt

I doubt Clinton has anything to do with it, but it is what you can expect when you cross the most powerful force in the party, and don't knock them out.

I do think Biden can help Obama.  Biden is well liked in the party, and he, unlike Edwards or Lieberman, will go after his opponents and fill the attack dog role nicely.

Re: What Have I Told Everyone!?!? (2.00 / 2)

This diary seems problematic to me, if only because this is the least persuasive argument for a ticket that I support.  Send this message to the Obama campaign and you ensure that HRC will not be offered the position.  That and the entitlement argument (i.e. '18 million people supported her so she is owed') are not going to convince anyone who doesn't hang out at alegres.corner.of.a.round.room.rearguard action.fifthcolumn.schadenfreudefest.com

I recommend discussing strengths she brings and how they would compliment one another in an administration.  If the above is why he should pick her, then he shouldn't.  In these terms it would look like a desperation move.  They never really work.

Re: What Have I Told Everyone!?!? (none / 0)

Desperation moves DO work.  Witness the NY Giants victory over the Patriots in the Superbowl with a Hail Mary and a leaping catch to the helmet by David Tyree.  Yes, yes - I know - thanks for the sports comparison... but the point is there is a time and place for bold moves.

Furthermore, I don't think it is desperation to ally yourself with the Clintons in the Democratic party.

Al Gore shunned them - and lost
John Kerry shunned them - and lost
Barack Obama - ?

Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton meanwhile, have hardly ever lost a race in their political lives.  Their success speaks for itself.

Re: What Have I Told Everyone!?!? (none / 0)

Bold moves do not equal desperation moves.  I don't think that picking HRC does has to be seen as one.  I advocate for just that as both bold and smart.  If you suggest that he MUST do that because he's going down the tubes then that is how it will look and will likely backfire.  I don't think it's gonna happen, though I would like it to.  But it must be done as a power move.  A brilliant pass.  A canny and timely hit-and-run.  A fast break ally-oop.  And the Giants victory was not a hail mary into the end zone, but a gutsy play up the middle that they pulled off.  That is exactly how it should be done.  Play to your strengths and make eeveryone else sorry for doubting them.  HRC is a strength.  I think we should play her.

Re: What Have I Told Everyone!?!? (2.00 / 2)

I fully expect this diarist to have one of the most dramatic

"Obama's VP pick dooms the party" diary, part of the 50 car pile up coming if it's anyone but Senator Clinton.

Lots of CAPS and lots of ???!!!????????????

Agree with Strummerson, and I have said so before.

If your reasoning for Senator Clinton on the ticket is either to placate the big Kitty Ville crowd, or entitlement, or THE WOMAN, you're making it worse.

How come I see very little of

"Senator Clinton is one of THE most qualified, she is terrific on the stump, the economy is her strong suit, she would rip whomever is the Republic VP to shreds....

That is why I want her on the ticket?

It's like all you folks focus on is, she was robbed and this is a make-up call?

That's the WORST argument to put her on the ticket....

Re: What Have I Told Everyone!?!? (none / 0)

According to Huffpost today, Hillary representatives, her brother, met with Carly Fiorina and campaign workers for McCain last week. And had that meeting become public. The release claimed the meeting was private and social but there is no record of the Clinton people, especially her brother, socializing with Carly Fiorina to provide such contextual cover. I saw Maureen Dowd's column this morning in NYT, and thought it was hyperbole, until I heard about this meeting.

How can you ask Democrats to support as VP somebody who sends her reps to talk with the other side?

Ah yes, Huffpo, the site hearladed by the redhead who was a vehement anti Clinton conservative until her Republican husband dumped her for a male companion.  Sine then she has become 'liberal' on some issues but has consistently been chanelling the deceased Barbara Olsen when it comes to the Clintons.

I trust anything on Huffpo less than I trust the ingredient label on my Wal Mart dog food bag.

I agree, that line and that verbage should have no place here at all. It discredits the even valid points in the diary.

Re: What Have I Told Everyone!?!? (none / 0)

Evidently, the more people see and hear Obama the less they like him.

But Obama doesn't need us lifelong Democrats to win the election.  He and his surrogates have told us so.

Re: What Have I Told Everyone!?!? (none / 0)

When has he said anything like this.  When Obama tries to expand the party to be more inclusive, only deadenders would somehow take this as an insult.  The goal is to win the election and build a stronger party (thank you Howard Dean and your 50-state strategy).

Meanwhile we get to observe the spectacle of the last Democratic President who cant bring himself to say that his party's nominee is qualified to be president, and praising the environmental stance of the GOP's nominee.  That is the type of Democrat we dont need.  Hey Bill, how about a nice hot cup of SHUT THE HELL UP!
